Market environment facing Reading festival (Blog part 1)

Record of meetings – Jake:

The first meeting was held on Friday the 8th at approximately 3.15pm in the UWE library. Everyone attended being Will Smith, Jake Bell, Ben Caygill and Matthew Wincott.

Discussions- Will:

During the first meeting we discussed the topic of festivals and unanimously decided on Reading festival due to our previous experiences of being there and our knowledge of the industry.

Progress report- Matt:

So far, we have chosen our topic and started to look into the treats that face Reading festival from being successful. Treats such as weather and other festivals have been identified and the process of looking at these factors in greater deal has begun.

Individual contributions – Ben:

Will – Contributed the topic of festivals and Reading festival by Harold Pendleton as our company.

Jake – Organised a group chat via Snapchat as well as sorted out the time we would meet each week which is 3pm every Friday in the library.

Ben – Contributed the threats that face Reading festival such as ‘weather and other festivals like Wireless’ and calculated how they impact the events.

Matt- Contributed information regarding Reading festivals target market and other organisational factors like when the festival takes place to maximise people attending (mid-summer seeks most amount of people).

Action points – Will and Ben:

  • Going forward we need to take a deeper look at the micro and macro factors that face the festival as well as the market using statistics and data.
  • Unite all work into a standard group format we all agree with to make a uniformed presentation.
  • Complete affecting factors, TOWs and CSFs sections within two weeks through our meetings (22nd February)
